Initial Sketches

So I started by sketching and outlining the car used by the Ghostbusters Ecto1 at my client’s request, as I had just finished that I began drawing out slimmer and my version of the subway ghost. I then had the idea to try and include more of the ghosts from the franchise in the final illustration, in which I could turn the ghosts into stencils for the window display since it was going to be blacked out using card. So then I proceeded to illustrate the remaining ghosts from the first 2 films, one of the terror dogs, the theatre ghost, The Librarian, The Scoleri brothers, the Washington square ghost, the zombie taxi driver and finally Mr.Staypuft the marshmallow man. I did end up drawing the original 4 Ghostbusters.

When it came to working on the digital illustrations of Ecto1 and the ghosts it was a slightly time-consuming process, as I the Ecto1 had a lot of editing to be done to get it looking as close to the real thing as possible; especially trying to include the ghostbusters logo. Before moving on to work on the digital illustrations of the ghost which was easier, the only issue was the colouring to look as close to the source material as possible and trying to make a second terror dog using the first illustration as a reference. The second to last step was the inclusion of a happy Halloween message, which was just drawn freehand to look ghoulish. The last step was turning 8 of 11 illustrations into stencils for the window and making Mr.Staypuft into its one thing for a window to interact with the Ghostbusters; unfortunately, I ran out of time to digitally illustrate them in time for the party, whereas I did end up digitally painting them after the fact.
