Initial Sketch
So, I began illustrating the 12 animals using referencing images of animals, so I could gain a better understanding of animal anatomy and positioning. As I started illustrating them in order of the Chinese calendar from the Rat right up to the Boar. During this process, I noticed my style had changed since doing the rat as the first one, as that is where I was deciding on the style I wanted to go in whether I wanted to produce them in either a realistic style, comic book, or a graphic art style.
Application
Finally, when it applied to the designs of the walls we first applied backing paper to the walls and painted them white, so standard DIY was involved beforehand for the simple reason of being able to still be completely intact without ruining the designs if it was ever to be removed.
Next using an enlarging method of using a grid-based system to translate from A3 to A0, which was used to be able to apply the design effectively to the walls. Where afterwards I then applied freehand background designs to occupy the empty space, so that when it came to painting, the choice to add contrasting colours could be a possibility.
Contextual view
Finally, after over 2 weeks of hand painting the walls were then treated with varnish so that the walls could be preserved and weatherproof liquid damage as well as being easier to clean. Especially when it comes to removal of the wall design it will all still be intact.
